And now for something different...
This is my first attempt at painting a landscape from life. I've sketched landscapes in the past but never sat out there with my canvas and paints. It was a beautiful experience, watching the weather, light and tide change, dodging thunderstorms, which you could see coming in from miles away, and being brought tea from my mum's neighbors!
Northumberland is a stunning part of the country, and this was painted near Bamburgh and Budle bay. In the distance you can see Lindisfarne castle on Holy Island. I felt blessed to sit there, not a person in sight, completely elemental and relaxed.
I'll definitely be doing some more of these paintings, the light and atmosphere up north is truly perfect.
